October 25, 2012 -- The Oregon Medical Association is pleased to announce that Bob Dannenhoffer, MD, has received the third annual Dr. George E. Miller Patient Safety Award. The award was presented on October 13 in Portland at the OMA’s Political Fall Forum, which gathered physicians from across the state to hear from local and national experts and elected officials on issues impacting health care.

October 2, 2012 -- Oregon has the fifth-highest rate of opioid medication abuse in the nation. In 2009, drug overdose deaths exceeded motor vehicle collisions as the leading cause of accidental death for the first time.
Physicians have an obligation to manage their patients’ pain, but also to help avert the redirection and abuse of these very powerful therapies.
