Keeping Our Eyes on Centene Corporation

The Lund Report intends to remain vigilant even though our fearless reporting rankles the insider crowd.
August 26, 2015

Remember that article you first read in The Lund Report about negotiations underway between PacificSource Health Plan and Providence Health Plan to merge late last year? Do you also recall that Jack Friedman, the former CEO of Providence Health Plan confirmed talks were being held?

Although such a merger may never come to pass, that won’t stop The Lund Report from its fearless reporting about Oregon’s healthcare industry – we pride ourselves on being courageous and saying what’s really going on inside the industry which definitely rankles the insider crowd.

If you believe in what we do, now is the time to step up and make a donation. The Lund Report has been given a very generous $31,000 challenge grant, and we’re inching our way forward – having already received more than $11,000 in donations and another $6,000 in pledges from readers such as yourselves.

Your dollars will go very far in taking The Lund Report to the next level where we can not only stay on top of the latest health policy developments, but focus on more intensive projects, giving you – our readers – insights into issues that you won’t find elsewhere.

We’re on the lookout as speculation grows that Centene Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, wants an even greater presence in our community by not only paying millions of dollars to purchase the coordinated care organization in Lane County, but spread its tentacles elsewhere.

Your contribution also keeps investigational journalism alive in our community.

Naturally, we value any and all contributions no matter the amount. However, this challenge grant comes with special conditions. We’re on the lookout for new donors – people who read our stories each and every week but haven’t had the opportunity yet to make a donation.

And, if you’re already one of our faithful donors, any increase in your annual contribution also counts toward this matching grant.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today by mailing your check to The Lund Report at POB 82841, Portland 97282 and I’ll be pleased to send along a receipt for tax purposes since we’re recognized as a 501-C-3 by the IRS. Or, if you prefer, you can use your credit card by logging onto our site – www.thelundreport.org – and clicking the Donate button.

Your contribution can also be acknowledged on our Sponsorship page.

As this fund-raising drive progresses, we’ll let you know how we’re doing. And, if you have any questions or are interested in making a special gift, please contact Janet Grubel, our development director, at [email protected].

Thanks for believing in what we do. Your wonderful support makes it possible for us to remain the most vital source of health news in Oregon. And we never intend to stray from that path! Diane can be reached at diane@thelundreport
