Purpose of this Position: Manage the daily operation of VFHC Dental Clinics, assuring high-quality team-based patient care is consistently delivered in a safe and efficient manner specific to the needs of the population served, current regulatory standards, best practices, and VFHC policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs frequently.
- Continual standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, stretching, lifting.
- Normal manual dexterity with proficient keyboarding skills.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in the appropriate field of business management, health administration, or health/dental-related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Five to Seven years of recent experience in an equivalent position, including staff supervision.
- Exhibit a pleasant and mature personality and a willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Take responsibility for all duties assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure efficient daily functioning of department, employees, and clinic.
- Effectively manage the capitated dental arrangement, ensuring appropriate cost and quality management.
- Work with senior leadership to help set strategic direction for the Dental division.
- Actively participate in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new employees, dentists, and hygienists.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting: Monitor financial performance of the dental department, analyze key metrics and trends, and prepare reports for leadership on budget adherence, revenue generation, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure staff are appropriately trained to perform job duties according to VFHC processes, procedures, standards, governing boards, and pertinent practice acts.
- Educate clinic staff when new technologies, processes, policies, and equipment are introduced, continually acting as a knowledgeable resource.
- Identify and manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure optimal pricing, quality, and service delivery for dental equipment, supplies, and technology.
- Motivate staff and create an environment where employees thrive.
- Evaluate employee performance to encourage exemplary work.
- Demonstrate confidence in employees delegating tasks according to the clinic’s needs.
- Cultivate an environment that helps employees hold themselves and one another accountable for their actions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills are needed to develop solutions to daily challenges and conflicts that arise in the workplace regarding performance issues and other clinic concerns in a timely and appropriate manner, following VFHC’s policies and procedures.
- In conjunction with dental supervisors, organize and lead all dental meetings, including monthly staff meetings, provider meetings, and virtual meetings, to communicate needed information and training while building unity within the team.
- Work with dental supervisors to develop a schedule for dental assistants and provider staff, ensuring adequate staffing and clinic productivity.
- Assist in preparing financial budgets.
- Effectively communicate necessary information with clinic staff and direct supervisors.
- Work with Quality Team to resolve quality issues and meet assigned metrics and instill a culture of continuous quality improvement.
- Work collaboratively with others toward the successful accomplishment of VFHC goals, mission, and objectives.
- Participate in ad hoc teams or committees, as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrative leaders.
Required Education and / or Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in the appropriate field of business management, health administration, or health/dental-related field. Master’s degree preferred.
