Willamette University Honors Jeff Heatherington

He received the distinguished alumni citation.

Jeff Heatherington, president and CEO of FamilyCare, has been honored with a distinguished alumni citation from Willamette University by being recognized for his leadership in nonprofit organizations and community service.

Heatherington runs the oldest Medicaid managed care companies in Oregon which was one of the first certified coordinated care organizations in 2012, and currently has more than 100,000 members.  FamilyCare Health Plans is a non-profit insurance subsidiary that provides health insurance for seniors as a Medicare Advantage Plan with more than 3,700 members.

Earlier, Heatherington was the executive director of the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of Oregon, a position he held for 30 years, and also was the director of development and public relations at Goodwill Industries of Oregon. 

He’s been the board chair of a Coalition for a Healthy Oregon, and currently is its legislative director. Heatherington has also serves on the board of the Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and is on the alumni board of Willamette University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1955.

Since 1980 he’s served in different capacity with Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, as international president, first vice president and treasurer.
