Robin Moody will become the director of policy and compliance for the National Rural Accountable Care Consortium in mid-February, working with its members across the country to support their participation in the Medicare Shared Savings Program.

Medicare’s goal is to have at least 85 percent of payments tied to quality and value by 2016. In her new positon, Moody will spend time in Washington DC, interfacing with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Reform and coordinate efforts with hospitals, federal qualified health centers and providers in rural communities.

“Right now ACOs do not have a firm presence in Oregon but many states do,” she said. “There are real barriers to rural participation including a minimum number of lives, and this program will bring together communities to reach that critical mass of lives. It will allow rural providers an opportunity to improve quality and reduce cost.”

As senior director of policy development at the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems for the past seven years, Moody led efforts to determine policy positions on issues such as Medicaid reform, working alongside its technical advisory committee members.
