Rhonda Busek Takes High-Level Position with Oregon Health Authority

December 13, 2012 -- Rhonda Busek is joining the Oregon Health Authority on Jan. 15 as the deputy to Judy Mohr Peterson, director of Medical Assistance Programs. “Rhonda will bring a unique set of skills and abilities to this position that will truly help us all move down the path of health system transformation,” according to an announcement by Mohr Peterson. “We’re very excited about having her join us.”

December 13, 2012 -- Rhonda Busek is joining the Oregon Health Authority on Jan. 15 as the deputy to Judy Mohr Peterson, director of Medical Assistance Programs.

“Rhonda will bring a unique set of skills and abilities to this position that will truly help us all move down the path of health system transformation,” according to an announcement by Mohr Peterson. “We’re very excited about having her join us.”

Up until now, Busek has been director of Medicaid programs and the Healthy Kids Connect Program for PacificSource Community Solutions, a coordinated care organization in central Oregon. Earlier, she was the chief operations officer for Lane Individual Practice Association and the senior vice president of government and community services for Trillium Community Health Plan.

“Rhonda has more than 15 years of progressive responsibility in Oregon’s healthcare field,” said Mohr Peterson. “She brings a unique perspective to OHA, having worked with managed care plans and within a coordinated care organization serving Oregon Health Plan members.

“She has a strong background in system operations; compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements; the handling of complaints, appeals, and hearings; managing provider relations and quality management activities; as well as collaboration with community organizations and elected officials.”

Busek chairs the Medicaid Advisory Committee and has served on the Oregon Health Plan Contractors Committee, Oregon Health Plan Rates Advisory Panel and the Oregon Health Improvement Plan Committee.

She holds a Masters in business administration and healthcare management, and earned her Bachelor of Science in human development and family studies.
