The Lund Report Remains the Watchdog of Oregon’s Healthcare Industry

May 2, 2012 – Three years ago, I started The Lund Report to become the watchdog of the healthcare industry in Oregon. Since then, we’ve brought you stories each and every week that you won’t find elsewhere and done it with a very lean budget – by relying on award-winning freelance journalists.

Your support is vital to our success. We need to raise $15,000 over the next few months to continue bringing you the latest healthcare news each and every week. Every contribution makes a difference – no matter how small or large. And because The Lund Report is considered a nonprofit organization by the IRS (501-C-3), your contributions are tax deductible.

You won’t find this coverage elsewhere. Where else can you read about how the Germans feel about the American healthcare system, a story brought to you by our correspondent in Berlin, Miriam Widman that has been read by over 6,600 people, according to Google Analytics.

Or, stories such as the interview with Dr. Jeffrey Weisz, president and executive medical director for the Northwest Permanente Medical Group, who’s on a mission to transform Kaiser Permanente.

We’ve also brought you coverage of Oregon’s leading insurance company, Regence BlueCross BlueShield, informing you about its decision to leave the Medicaid market in Washington state, the abrupt departure of a high-ranking official, and Regence’s decision to shut down a for-profit subsidiary, Kinetix, after losing $19.3 million on the deal.

Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution today so we can continue our important work or send a check to The Lund Report at P.O. Box 82841, Portland, OR 97282.

Our dollars are spent on professional journalists and web technology, and no one has an expense account. As editor, I have refused to accept a salary or any other compensation. None of your contributions will end up in my pocket.

And you can add your voice by commenting on stories, sending us story ideas and following us on Facebook and Twitter.

As you well know, I’m deeply committed to this endeavor, and I built this news organization with a passion to tell the truth about our complex healthcare system.

Now, with your support, The Lund Report can continue to make our system more accountable and transparent so everyone has access to quality healthcare.

Thanks for believing in what I do!
