The Salvation Army White Shield Center provides a safe, secure, nurturing learning environment for adolescent girls between the ages of 12 and 18. Residents referred by the State or Oregon’s Department of Human Services or Oregon Youth Authority. Many residents are pregnant or parenting children between the ages of 0-3. Serving the children of resident teen mothers, White Shield has opened their doors to adolescent girls to provide a safe and nurturing environment to build foundational social, emotional and behavior skills that foster stability and lay the groundwork for long-term success. They are seeking an Engagement & Retention Specialist.

This role provides support and direct service to residents to ensure successful engagement and participation in program services. This role provides guidance for the residential and social services staff in implementation of a positive youth development approach that reinforces resiliency and skill acquisition from the first point of contact through the aftercare process. The ERS provides quality leadership within the agency and works closely with the Clinical Director to facilitate the agency's priorities for residents' self-determination through a holistic, multi-cultural, gender-responsive and strengths perspective. The ERS coordinates and networks with other social service programs and community resources in promoting and enriching White Shield Center's youth development services for residents and to carry out the mission of the agency.
