Disability Rights Oregon (DRO) is a statewide, nonprofit law office that is designated as the Protection and Advocacy System for Oregon. Its mission is to promote and defend the rights of individuals with disabilities. It envisions a society in which persons with disabilities have equality of opportunity, full participation and the ability to exercise meaningful choice. DRO receives funding from eight separate federal programs as well as grants, contracts and private contributions. It has 25 staff members including attorneys, advocates, benefits planners, intake advocates, and support personnel.

The WIPA project is funded by SSA to provide no cost supports and services to beneficiaries who want to work, so they can make informed decisions about working, and have a successful transition to the workforce. DRO’s WIPA program serves all of Oregon and ten counties in Washington. For over fifteen years, DRO has provided direct service to beneficiaries of SSI and SSDI seeking to increase their financial independence and stability through employment. Position Overview: The WIPA Intake Specialist is specific to an independent program, Plan for Work—Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) that provides direct work incentives/benefits planning assistance and support to SSI and/or SSDI beneficiaries. The incumbent helps program navigate the WIPA intake process and provides quality assurance support to the WIPA Project Coordinator.
