Health Hires: Careers are Booming

According to the latest survey by U.S. News & World Report, seven of the top ten jobs are in healthcare.

What defines a “good” job? The answer varies from person to person. Most of us agree that decent salary and benefits would be on the list. Maybe we want to be challenged to do our best work, without being pushed to a breaking point. We’d like an opportunity to grow and advance in a timely manner. These days, perhaps more than ever, we’d like a job in an industry that is actively hiring.

Did you know that U.S. News & World Report publishes a list every year of the 100 best jobs in the United States? This year seven of the top ten jobs are in healthcare related sectors. From dentists to physician assistants, healthcare as a career is booming.

When compiling its rankings U.S. News looked at data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Jobs with the highest projected number of openings over the next ten years were selected first. From there they looked at median salary, job prospects, employment rate, stress level, and work-life balance. On all these criteria, healthcare came out ahead. We think that’s pretty exciting.
