The health of people, ecosystems, and the planet cannot be effectively addressed in silos. Health In Harmony is a planetary health organization that helps communities have the resources they need, so they do not need to destroy their ecosystems to survive. In geographies of high conservation value, where improving access to health care and well-being can prevent environmental destruction, they radically listen to facilitate community-designed solutions, and then they assist communities to build the networks needed to resource and realize those solutions. Communities surrounding Indonesian Borneo’s Gunung Palung National Park previously relied on unsustainable logging of the rain forest to pay for their health care. For the last 10 years, they have worked with together to implement successful community-designed solutions that provide high-quality, affordable health care, catalyze rainforest regeneration, and reverse poverty. This situation is in many critical ecosystems worldwide. Their goal now is to protect additional high-value habitats while gathering further evidence regarding the effectiveness of their unique model, and prepare for taking it to scale. In 2017, they have completed scouting trips and feasibility assessments of ecosystems in West Papua and Leuser, Indonesia, Madagascar and the Philippines. Today we seek an inspiring, creative, and proven Program Director to capitalize on our organization’s immense potential to amplify our impact by taking our pathfinding approach to scale.
