Bernie Sanders Health Plan Takes Center Stage

Student discount tickets are available for this upcoming breakfast forum sponsored by Oregon Health Forum.
July 7, 2016

What could happen if our country adopted the Medicare for All Health Plan advocated by Bernie Sanders? Would we still have out-of-control costs for hospital procedures and specialty drugs? Would our healthcare system actually improve?

These are among the probing questions awaiting our panelists Wednesday morning when they tackle this probing issue.

The event gets underway at 7 a.m. at the Multnomah Athletic Club, sponsored by Oregon Health Forum in collaboration with Oregon Physicians for a National Health Program.

Student discount tickets are available by contacting Rian Sands, our administrative assistant.

You’ll hear from a panel of experts including:

  • Sen. Michael Dembrow, D-Portland
  • Chris Lowe, Bernie Sanders campaign
  • Jeff Heatherington, CEO and president, FamilyCare
  • Jim Thompson, former vice-chair of the Oregon House Healthcare Committee.

Tim Nesbitt, columnist for The Oregonian, will be our moderator.

With the Democratic national convention just a few weeks away, there’s no more pivotal time to discuss this engaging topic. You’ll also hear about the latest effort underway by the Oregon Health Authority which has commissioned an in-depth study being targeted for the 2017 legislative session that look into the pros and cons of implementing a single-payer health system. .
