A former Oregon state senator who was a vocal advocate of health insurance reform before leaving the Senate last year says his own family faces premiums of over $18,000 per year – and he’s blaming Republicans in Congress.
Gov. Kate Brown has proposed an agenda for the 2017 session that’s high on difficult cuts, but also perhaps surprisingly has a heavy lift for a big wish.
Rep. Cedric Hayden, R-Cottage Grove, said the Oregon Health Authority has a financial incentive to delay moving pregnant women into coordinated care organizations, which may have prevented these women from getting access to the full array of health benefits available to them.
