unity to an interactive training session that will offer information about building a trauma-informed relationship with colleagues, understanding self-care and vicarious trauma, and developing tools to serve clients and patients with trauma-informed care.
The training will be held December 9 at McMinnville Cooperative Ministries, 544 NE Second Street, McMinnville. Breakfast and check-in will begin at 6:30 a.m., the first workshop will be 7–9 a.m., and the optional follow-up session will be 9:30–11:30 a.m. The event is free; however, registration is required.
Those who implement trauma-informed care recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma, respond by integrating trauma-informed policies, procedures, and practices, and seek to actively resist re-traumatization. Participants will leave with practical tips and clear action items to implement in their place of work, practice, or personal lives.
The breakfast session will feature Wayne Scott, MA, LCSW. Wayne is a practicing therapist with more than 25 years of clinical experience and more than 10 years teaching experience. He currently provides consultation and education to medical and social service providers on topics like clinical supervision, ethics, and trauma, and has worked with chemical dependency and mental health treatment programs in Portland.
This event will offer two AAFP prescribed Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.
The training is part of series of events that explore ways we can strengthen families and build resilience in our children. Preventing adverse childhood experiences and addressing their impact at every age have been key topics during these community conversations.
