Wyden Statement on Selection of Charmaine Yoest for HHS Communications Role

April 28, 2017

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement following news that Charmaine Yoest will be named assistant secretary of public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS):

“Ms. Yoest has made a career of pushing misinformation about reproductive health and promoting a backwards agenda that threatens women’s health care across the country,” Wyden said. “Her selection to join the health department sends another disturbing signal about the priorities of this administration. American women deserve to hear how their health care will be made more affordable and accessible, not how it will be restricted on the basis of falsehoods.”
