Volunteers in Medicine Welcomes John Letovsky, MD as Medical Director

Bend, Ore. – June 14, 2017 Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades (VIM) is pleased to welcome John Letovsky, MD, as our new Medical Director. Dr. Letovsky recently worked as an Internist at GreenField Health in Portland, OR.

“Most of VIM’s patients live with challenging, chronic conditions,” said Kat Mastrangelo, Executive Director of VIM. “Dr. Letovsky brings a wealth of experience working with a diverse patient population and a passion for leading innovations in healthcare delivery. His vision and passion for the highest standards of care support VIM’s mission. We are excited to have him join VIM as Medical Director.”

Dr. Letovsky brings more than 21 years of experience as an Internal Medicine Specialist, working in a variety of clinical settings in Eugene and Portland. In his role as Medical Director, Dr. Letovsky will provide oversight to 46 volunteer providers with a shared goal of delivering high quality, compassionate medical care to VIM’s nearly 1,000 uninsured and medically underserved patients.

Dr. Letovsky is board certified in Internal Medicine and received his medical degree from the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine in Denver. His internship in Internal Medicine was completed at The University of California – San Diego.

“It is an honor to be a part of VIM,” said Dr. Letovsky. “After living in Central Oregon part-time for more than a decade, my wife, Diane, and I are thrilled to now call Bend our full-time home. I have always admired the mission of VIM; providing medical care to a hardworking segment of our community that literally has nowhere else to get the help they need.” He continues, “Every day I feel like I am experiencing the very best of our community working together.”

Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) was established in 2001 and provides free medical, mental health, vision and prescription drug care for adults over 18 who live or work in Deschutes, Crook or Jefferson County, earn less than 250% of federal poverty levels and are uninsured.
