HILLSBORO - Beginning Monday, November 13 the Virginia Garcia Diabetes Roadshow will be heading to a clinic near you. November is Diabetes Awareness month and in an effort to both raise awareness and help those with diabetes manage the disease, the VG Diabetes Management team will be visiting each clinic to share tips and tools about the steps to a healthy life with diabetes, support someone with diabetes or learn more about what they can do to prevent Type 2 diabetes.
"We hope to reach many of our patients with pre-diabetes and diabetes during the event," said VG Dietitian and Diabetes Specialist, Valeria Mallett. "It's important to educate everyone that with healthy eating and physical activity a person has more than a 50% chance of preventing type 2 diabetes."
The Diabetes Awareness Roadshow will begin next Monday in Newberg. Each fair will be held in the main lobby of the clinic in order to allow everyone to participate. VG is partnering with Oregon State University and the American Diabetes Association to help create a fun and interactive environment. There will be opportunities to get cooking tips, find out more about healthy activities and events in the area and chat with experts about ways to get - and stay - healthy.
