Talk by ‘Salt Sugar Fat’ author, Screening of Health Care Reform Documentary to Highlight Public Health Week April 1-7

WHAT: Oregon Public Health Week 2013, a weeklong series of events organized by the state’s public health partners as part of National Public Health Week to promote continuing health and wellness for all Oregonians. This year’s theme is ‘Public Health is Return on Investment (ROI): Save Lives, Save Money’

WHO: Oregon Public Health Week 2013 events are free and open to the public. 

WHEN: Monday, April 1, to Friday, April 7.

AGENDA: 
•    April 1: Capitol Visit Day, 9 a.m. to noon, Oregon State Capitol Galleria, Salem: Oregon public health displays.
•    April 2: Walk around the Capitol, noon to 12:45 p.m., Oregon State Capitol Steps, Salem: I love ME (Moving & Eating) Marion County Walk highlighting diabetes and obesity prevention.
•    April 3: Film screening, 7 p.m., Oregon Health & Science University Auditorium, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland: “Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare,” a CNN documentary on health care reform. Audience discussion to follow.
•    April 4: An evening with Michael Moss, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of “Salt, Sugar, Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us,” OHSU Auditorium. Reception and book signing to follow.
•    April 5: Oregon Master of Public Health Program poster symposium, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., rooms 1B and 1D, Portland State Office Building, 800 NE Oregon St., Portland.
