State Medical Association Honors Doctor of the Year

PORTLAND, Oregon – (Miriam) Molly Fauth, MD, was named the 2018 Oregon Family Doctor of the Year by the Oregon Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP). Dr. Fauth was honored at the OAFP’s Annual Family Medicine Weekend on Saturday, April 14 at the Portland Embassy Suites Downtown Hotel. Dr. Fauth’s husband, children, parents (including family physician Tom Duncan), sisters and their family members as well as her One Community Health colleagues were on hand for the surprise announcement. She has been a member of the OAFP since 2005 and was a past Academy board member. 

 

Dr. Fauth received a bachelor’s degree from Linfield College, in McMinnville, Oregon, a medical degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico and completed her residency at OHSU’s Cascade East Family Medicine Residency in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

 

The award recognizes physicians who provide compassionate, comprehensive family medicine on a continuing basis; are involved in community affairs; and who provide a credible role model professionally and personally to their community, other health professionals and residents and medical students. 

 

Upon receiving the award, Dr. Fauth stated, Winning this award is especially meaningful because it shows me that the love I have for my community is reciprocated in kind. By that same token, the celebration and honor of this award should be shared by everyone who touches my life.”

 

Dr. Fauth, who has worked at One Community Health in Hood River for over 13 years, received numerous letters of endorsement from patients, colleagues, friends and community leaders who have worked with her over the years and sum up how she represents the best in family medicine:

 

. Molly is a compassionate and highly-skilled family physician;

. She is bilingual and culturally in tune with her patients’ needs;

. Molly is fearless. She does not back away from challenges and is a champion for her patients and the needs of the poor and vulnerable in our community;

. Molly is thoughtful in her approach to patient care, how she interacts with her colleagues and support staff and how she prioritizes her time and energy to serve her community; and

. She is an inspiration to everyone regarding her devotion to the underserved and I am amazed at how much community involvement and volunteer work she manages to get involved with.

 

Dr. Fauth’s name will be submitted to the American Academy of Family Physicians in nomination for the American Family Doctor of the Year.

The Oregon Academy of Family Physicians is the largest medical specialty society in Oregon and represents more than 1,600 family physicians, residents, and medical students throughout the state. The mission of the OAFP is to advocate for family physicians and assist them in providing for the health of their patients and communities.
