State to complete review of need for new psychiatric hospital in Wilsonville by January

October 25, 2016

The Oregon Health Authority will begin its review of a Certificate of Need application from NEWCO Oregon Inc. (Universal Health Services) for a certificate of need to build a 100-bed, freestanding psychiatric hospital in Wilsonville.

The proposed hospital would be located at 9500 SW Day Road in Wilsonville. It would serve adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

State law charges OHA officials with reviewing proposals for new hospitals and nursing facilities to ensure health-care consumers don’t pay for facilities not justified by community needs.

Jana Fussell, OHA certificate of need coordinator, said a proposed decision as to the need for this project will be issued no later than Jan. 18, 2017.

Anyone who has a vested interest in the outcome of the OHA decision may request affected party status. Anyone designated as an affected person will copies of relevant correspondence, may testify at or request a public meeting on the issue prior to a decision if the request is made at a reasonable time, and may be a party to any future contested case hearing.

OHA will make a copy of the application available for inspection by appointment during normal business hours at 800 NE Oregon St., Suite 305, in Portland. For further information, contact Jana Fussell at 971-673-1108.
