Royal Harris appointed to FamilyCare Health Board of Directors

(PORTLAND, Ore.) June 15, 2016 – FamilyCare Health has appointed Royal Harris to its Board of Directors. Harris will also serve as the Chair of FamilyCare Health’s Community Advisory Council.

Harris is a Portland native and alumnus of Concordia University with more than 15 years of experience working in community mental health and 20 years of experience working with at-risk youth. His work with at-risk youth has included providing street-level gang outreach services to the City of Portland through his non-profit organization, The Aristotle Project. Harris has also partnered with Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare to provide clinical liaison services to the Multnomah County Department of Community Justice Parole and Probation Department Gang Unit. Furthermore, he is a trained mediator and certified community health worker. Harris currently works for the Empowerment Clinic as the in-reach specialist, providing assistance, support, and mentoring to African American men coming out of prison or involved with the criminal justice system.

Harris begins his role chairing the FamilyCare Health Community Advisory Council at the next meeting, to be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21st, at New Avenues for Youth, 314 SW 9th Ave., Portland.
