June 21, 2013 – Resa Bradeen, M.D., a board certified pediatrician, has joined FamilyCare Health Plans as the assistant medical director. FamilyCare, a coordinated care organization, serves about 54,000 people on the Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) and Medicare.

Dr. Bradeen brings a wealth of healthcare delivery experience, most recently serving as medical director for Children’s Health Alliance (CHA), an independent pediatric practice association. There she led practiced-based quality improvement and healthcare transformation initiatives for CHA’s 16 pediatric practices, located throughout the Portland Metro area. She also provided medical home certification assistance to practices as well as guidance and training in care management and care coordination. Dr. Bradeen was instrumental in executing population management assessment and stratification tools for children, including an asthma care management registry used by 125 pediatricians to monitor over 10,000 pediatric patients with asthma.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Bradeen join our team”, says Doug Luther, M.D., FamilyCare’s medical director.  “Resa has enormous energy and expertise in pediatrics and is a proven champion in helping children get and stay healthy.  Her experience in leading the Children’s Health Alliance will support FamilyCare’s commitment to excellence in care and quality outcomes for our young members.”

One of her main interests is children with special healthcare needs. In 2012, she added the position of medical director for the Center for Medically Fragile Children at Providence Health Systems, a 58-bed skilled nursing facility for children with very complex medical needs. In this role she provides strategic direction on quality improvement and peer review processes.

Dr. Bradeen began practicing pediatrics in 1993 and currently practices at Metropolitan Pediatrics in Portland. She earned her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, KY, and completed her residency at Oregon Health Sciences University.
