Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel Successfully Reaches $25 Million Campaign Goal

March 22, 2013

March 22, 2013 — Since the fall of 2009, 3,100 individuals, foundations and businesses — including more than 1,700 Legacy Health employees — have come together to raise more than $25 million for The Legacy Campaign for Children at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy EmanuelThe past four years have truly demonstrated the generosity and commitment of all Legacy donors, especially our community. “Our region is stronger and healthier because people gave their time, talent and treasure to this campaign,” said Liz MacDonell, Randall Children’s Hospital Foundation executive director.

In addition to being the largest fundraising campaign in Legacy’s history, The Legacy Campaign for Children was also the most successful employee campaign. Together, Legacy employees raised more than $2.7 million. These donations were used to garner other gifts, including a $10 million gift from the Robert D. and Marcia H. Randall Charitable Trust — the largest single gift ever to a children’s hospital in Oregon.

“The success of this campaign helps ensure the good health of our children for years and decades to come,” notes Randall Children’s Hospital Chief Administrative Officer Carla D. Harris, R.N. “Our patients continue to receive the world-class care they always have, in a world-class environment.”

Since opening day on Feb. 26, 2012, Randall Children’s Hospital has treated nearly 22,000 patients in its Children’s Emergency Department and had 6,800 discharges. Patient and family satisfaction scores are strong ranking Randall Children’s Hospital in the top 10 percent nationwide in patient satisfaction. Many programs and specialties are nationally ranked as well, including the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.

The new building has received nearly a dozen design awards so far, including two top interior design industry awards in the health care category: Interior Design Magazine’s “Best of the Year Projects” andContract Magazine’s “Interior Award.”

In addition to building a state-of-the-art, family-centered hospital, Legacy is also expanding its pediatric services beyond the walls of the hospital. New Legacy Medical Group clinics offering pediatric care are opening on Portland’s Westside this spring. Randall Children’s Hospital is also expanding outpatient services and outreach programs statewide, ensuring that communities have the resources they need to stay healthy.

Randall Children’s Hospital and Legacy are able to achieve success because of the dedication and generosity of our community. The impact of exceptional care— and contributions — is felt by every young patient and family at Randall Children’s Hospital. Legacy thanks the community for its support of The Legacy Campaign for Children.
