July 18, 2015

PORTLAND, Ore. — Providence Health Plan has named Brad Garrigues as chief marketing officer. Garrigues most recently served as senior director of sales and account services and has been with Providence Health Plan for more than 17 years. He has held numerous leadership positions within sales and account management, and fills the role held previously by Barbara Christensen, who retired after 30 years with Providence Health Plan.

“We are excited to hire a leader who will advance our vision and has demonstrated a commitment to the long-term success of our business,” says Michael White, interim chief executive and chief operating officer with Providence Health Plan. “His extensive strategic and industry experience, along with his established credibility in our insurance community, will be invaluable as we look towards creating healthier communities in Oregon and across the nation.”

As chief marketing officer, Garrigues will provide strategic leadership for sales, marketing and product development for Providence Health Plan’s commercial, individual and Medicare programs, which currently serve more than 500,000 members nationwide.

Garrigues graduated with distinction from Cornell University’s S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management, earning a Master of Business Administration. Garrigues also holds an MBA from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and completed his undergraduate studies at Linfield College, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in business-economics. Garrigues is also a recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal for his service during Operation Desert Storm.
