As communities work to combat and contain COVID-19, Compass Behavioral Health has implemented new protocols to reach people seeking treatment for mental health conditions. “For many people, the coronavirus pandemic can be unsettling and stressful, said Cherie Barnstable, Compass Behavioral Health Clinical Director. “For people with existing mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other forms of mental illness, the effects of the pandemic can be far more-reaching—making many symptoms infinitely worse.”
Compass Behavioral Health, the Community Mental Health Program for Douglas County, is committed to improving access to the highest quality treatment and support services for children, adolescents, adults and families. “Compass continues to offer a full range of mental health treatment services via telehealth,” said Barnstable. Services offered are crisis intervention, assessment, individual, family and group counseling, case management, peer services and referral to medication management.
New and existing clients can engage in telehealth services by phone or computer from the safety of their homes. In-person treatment remains available for those who cannot access telehealth. “We also offer Open Access scheduling to connect clients with a provider on the same day,” said Barnstable.
To protect client and staff health and safety, individuals seeking in-person treatment are asked appropriate screening questions and will have their temperature taken. Clients feeling sick are asked to call before coming in.
