Press Release: Health Care For All Oregon Announces Interim Director

We are pleased to welcome Michael Sorensen to the Health Care for All Oregon movement as interim executive director.

Sorensen, MPA, brings extensive experience as an executive administrator in a variety of nonprofit and government organizations, focused on community health and welfare. This includes executive director of Children’s Relief Nursery (a child abuse prevention agency), Samaritan Counseling (a nationally accredited mental health organization), Mālama Pono Health Services (an AIDS service organization in Hawaii), Maitri AIDS Hospice, and Executive Director of Clinics at National University of National Medicine. 

He has worked for Clackamas and Multnomah Counties in their Health Departments to improve health care access. Michael has a passion and know-how in supporting and serving the community.

Through his consulting firm, Michael provided leadership services to many local organizations, including HCAO, National Native American AIDS Prevention Center, Pacific Birds Joint Venture, and iWIll Inc., among others. He has successfully fundraised more than $20 million in the past decade for the Native American Rehabilitation Association, Native American Youth and Family Center, and most recently for Cascade AIDS Project, among others.

Michael served as an Americorps VISTA Volunteer and as a full-time mission at the Indiana, Indianapolis Mission of the LDS Church where he learned American Sign Language. He is the adoptive father of a son and a Native Oregonian.
