Planned Parenthood Offers Last-Minute Health Insurance Enrollment Help

January 25, 2016

Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette is holding Last-Minute Health Insurance Enrollment Fairs on Saturday, January 30th in Portland and Hillsboro. Throughout open enrollment, which runs until January 31st, Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette has been helping women in Oregon and Southwest Washington take charge of their health by providing education, resources and in-person assistance to help community members get enrolled in insurance plans.

"Getting insurance means you can see the healthcare providers you need, when you need to, and get preventive care without a copay," said Erin Gorry, Certified Application Counselor for Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette. "Accidents happen. People get sick. Insurance protects you and your family from unexpected medical bills."

More than 48 million women have already benefited from access to fully covered women's health services thanks to the Affordable Care Act's preventive health benefits. One in seven ACA Marketplace enrollees is a woman between the ages of 18 and 34, and millions of women now have access to birth control, routine well-woman exams, breast and cervical cancer screenings, and mammograms for women older than 40 without copays or other out-of-pocket expenses.

"As the leading women's healthcare provider in Oregon and Southwest Washington, we know firsthand how much women benefit from the historic advancements in the Affordable Care Act," said Stacy M. Cross, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette. "For women, the Affordable Care Act means more affordable health care and greater peace of mind. We are here to help women figure out what to consider in choosing a health insurance plan, how to get help paying for it and how to sign up."
