Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette to Hold ACA Enrollment Event on January 24th

Helps Women Across Portland Metro Area Get Covered

PORTLAND – As part of a national effort this month to spotlight the Affordable Care Act’s many benefits for women and encourage eligible women to enroll, Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette is holding an Open House & Enrollment Fair on January 24th at its Regional Service Center in Portland.

Throughout open enrollment, which ends on February 15, Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette is helping women in Oregon and Southwest Washington take charge of their health by providing education, resources and in-person assistance to community members to help them get enrolled in insurance plans.

More than 48 million women have already benefited from access to fully covered women’s health services thanks to the Affordable Care Act’s preventive health benefits. One in seven ACA Marketplace enrollees is a women between the ages of 18 and 34, and millions of women now have access to birth control, routine well-woman exams, breast and cervical cancer screenings, and mammograms for women older than 40 without co-pays or other out-of-pocket expenses.

The Open House & Enrollment Fair is presented in collaboration with the Oregon Latino Health Coalition, the Coalition of Community Health Clinics and Northwest Family Services. Guest speakers will be Portland City Commissioner Steve Novick and Oregon Latino Health Coalition Executive Director Alberto Moreno. The website provides an overview of what the health care law, often referred to as Obamacare, means for women; a glossary of important terms related to the law and health insurance; a calculator that helps visitors get a sense of what kind of financial help they can get; specifics on what to consider as a woman choosing a health insurance plan; and a way to find local, in-person help signing up and to schedule an appointment for assistance.
