PGE Foundation Makes Grant to Central City Concern Capital Project

June 8, 2015

Portland – The PGE Foundation, the corporate foundation of Portland General Electric, recently approved a $50,000 grant to Central City Concern’s family housing project in Clackamas County. Construction on the new apartment building will begin soon. The grant will be made over two years in equal installments of $25,000 each year.

The Clackamas project will feature 60 new apartments that are affordable to families in transition out of poverty. Central City Concern will provide on-site staff to assist tenants with family reunification, recovery from addiction, the creation of positive social networks, and the attainment of financial self-sufficiency. The building is well-located in a high opportunity area with access to amenities for residents including public transportation, schools, parks, child care centers, shopping and employment opportunities.

Central City Concern currently operates 92 similar apartment buildings across the metro area as part of its Family Housing programs. Central City Concern’s mission is providing comprehensive solutions to ending homelessness and achieving self-sufficiency. It serves approximately 13,000 people yearly with healthcare, housing, peer support and employment in the Portland metro area.
