PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center will be the exclusive Health Partner for Vancouver’s inaugural AppleTree marathon, half-marathon, and 5k September 15-16, 2018.
“We’re really pleased to be the health partner for this inaugural event,” said Sean Gregory, Chief Executive for PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. “As the largest employer in Clark County, PeaceHealth is committed to enhancing the health and wellness of our community, and this is a great way to encourage healthier lifestyles. Because this event includes a 5k, half and full marathon, we encourage everyone to participate, from families to elite runners.”
PeaceHealth will have volunteers on hand to offer helpful health and nutrition information at its booth, along with providing water at designated stations along the way. The 5k will occur at sunset on Saturday, Sept. 15 with the half and full marathon on Sunday, Sept. 16, with a start time of 7 a.m. Walkers may participate in any of the three events.
About the Apple Tree Marathon
The AppleTree Marathon’s theme is “Run Through History” and will route runners through historic Fort Vancouver and the Army Barracks, Officer’s Row, Pearson Airport, past the northwest’s oldest living apple tree, and along the Columbia River.
The marathon is a two-Loop, spectator-friendly, flat & fast Boston Qualifying course highlighting Vancouver’s beauty. The runs will offer an exciting racing experience with water stations every mile and plenty of entertainment to keep runners motivated. This inaugural event will no doubt prove to be a popular draw for both elite runners and first-timers. Runners even have the option to form a marathon relay team. The AppleTree will also provide a post-event meal and party, including free beer courtesy of Deschutes Brewery, a T-shirt, medal, and gift bag.
