(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.) July 15, 2016-- PacificSource Health Plans has again been recognized by The American Heart Association (AHA) as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite. PacificSource is one of just four companies in Oregon — and one of 317 employers out of 2,393 applicants nationwide — to earn the AHA’s elite Platinum Recognition in 2016.
The AHA defines Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite employers as those organizations that promote a culture of wellness and offer their employees options for physical activity and healthy eating. They must also demonstrate measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness and implement at least nine criteria outlined by the AHA in the areas of physical activity, nutrition, and culture.

Additional qualifying workplace wellness programs and criteria that PacificSource has implemented include providing access to onsite fitness classes and exercise facilities, company-wide walking challenges, monthly staff wellness seminars, healthy food offerings at staff meetings and in vending machines, a comprehensive online health engagement web portal, and an employee-focused wellness committee and dedicated employee wellness specialist on staff.
PacificSource has been recognized as a Fit-Friendly Worksite in the past by the AHA at the Platinum and Gold levels and has also previously won the organization’s Community Innovation Award.
