Pacific Power Foundation Supports Volunteer Training At Volunteers In Medicine

April 13, 2015

Bend, Ore. – April 13, 2015 The Pacific Power Foundation recently awarded a $3,000 grant to Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades (VIM) to help support cultural competency training and education for the clinic’s volunteers.

“Many of our volunteers are seeking real-world work experience while volunteering at VIM,” said Kat Mastrangelo, Executive Director of VIM. “With the continued support of the Pacific Power Foundation, we are able to provide our volunteers with cultural competency training so they are armed with the skills and information needed to effectively interact with our patient base and beyond.”

VIM provides healthcare on a donation basis to uninsured, low-income adults that are not eligible for, or able to access, medical care through Affordable Care Act programs. VIM’s goal is to keep adults in the tri-county area as healthy as possible so that they can work, take care of their families, and be contributing members of our community.

This model of care is made possible through the big-hearted efforts of hundreds of generous donors, more than 250 clinic volunteers, and over 400 medical providers located throughout Central Oregon.

“We are pleased to present a Pacific Power Foundation grant to VIM to support the outstanding services they provide to the working and uninsured in Central Oregon,” shared Angela Price, Pacific Power Regional Community Manager. “Many people in our community would not have access to medical care if it wasn’t for VIM.”
