Oregon Insurance Division Launches Online Outreach
February 7, 2012 -- In an effort to reach more consumers, the Insurance Division of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services is developing a series of webinars and virtual town halls that will allow people to learn about key insurance topics from home.
“This is an efficient and cost-effective way to reach people who want to learn more about insurance,” Acting Insurance Division Administrator Lou Savage said.
Through webinars and virtual town halls, the division can reach any Oregonian with an Internet connection. Plus, the content can be geared to the needs of a particular audience.
Viewers can call in and participate in the live discussion – or watch later by retrieving the presentation from an online library on the division’s website.
The division recently teamed up with the advocacy organization Oregon’s Family to Family Health Information Center to offer its first webinar – an upcoming discussion of health insurance issues faced by families of children with special needs. The 30-minute webinar will be shown at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, but can be viewed any time after that by visiting www.cbs.state.or.us/ins/consumer/outreach/outreach.html.
“This was a great partnership and we hope to work with other Oregon groups to customize an array of insurance presentations,” said Kevin Jeffries, the division’s consumer liaison.
Upcoming webinar topics include long-term care, small business and the Affordable Care Act, and auto insurance myths and facts. The division is also inviting organizations to contact it with insurance topics they want to see explored. This could be in most any area of insurance – from auto and health to homeowner and life.
