Oregon Business Association Honors Team of Heroes with 2012 Statesman of the Year Award

OBA’s Annual Statesman Dinner to be held Oct. 12 Featuring Guest Speakers Mark Penn and Ron Shaich
August 23, 2012

August 24, 2012 -- Heroes, as they say, are made, not born. Behind the scenes during the past year and a half, a team of heroes was made in the fight to bring about health care reform in Oregon.

The Oregon Business Association (OBA) today announced that it will present the 2012 Statesman of the Year Award to 11 exemplary “health care revolutionaries” for their respective roles in improving Oregon’s health care system and inspiring others to do the same in their communities. The Statesman of the Year Awards will be presented at the annual OBA Statesman Dinner on October 12, 2012 at the Oregon Convention Center.

“We are pleased to honor these unsung heroes,” said Ryan Deckert, OBA President. “Each of these individuals worked tirelessly and collaboratively over the past year and a half to make this work possible. While their peers in other states have dug in their heels and guarded their turf, these Oregonians have said ‘yes’ to the possibility of a new model for their work.”

The 2012 OBA Statesman of the Year Award Honorees are:

  • Commissioner Tammy Baney, Deschutes County
  • Sen. Alan Bates, Senate District, Ashland
  • Dr. George Brown, CEO, Legacy Health
  • Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer, Roseburg
  • Rep. Tim Freeman, House District 2, Roseburg
