OHSU partners with community organizations to serve disadvantaged Oregonians

March 6, 2013

March 5, 2013 -- Oregon Health & Science University's School of Nursing, in partnership with OHSU's School of Medicine and Global Health Center, has created a new project designed to improve health outcomes for disadvantaged Oregonians.

The project, funded by a three-year Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant, will expand partnerships between OHSU, neighborhood clinics and community health agencies statewide to design a more coordinated approach to addressing community health concerns.

The project will build student care teams that help clients navigate health systems and other community service organizations, such as Central City Concern, the Macdonald Center and Neighborhood House, which provide services that impact health outcomes, including housing assistance, food aid, financial management and education.

An upcoming announcement event will celebrate the partnership, share more about the project and reveal what parts of Oregon the program will expand to over the next three years.
