The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute has announced grant funding to ten community-led projects around the state in the latest funding cycle for its Community Partnership Program.

December 21, 2016

We are happy to report that SouthRiver Community Health Center in Winston was named as one of the ten organizations to receive development funding from OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Community Partnership Program.  Please see the attached release from OHSU.

Funding will allow SouthRiver to develop a clinical tobacco cessation intervention that begins at the time of the patient’s medical visit.  By integrating behavioral health care with primary care, it is anticipated that the project will increase patient engagement in nicotine dependence treatment and, ultimately, reduce the risk of tobacco-caused cancer—including lung cancer.

As part of the grant project, SouthRiver will also work in cooperation with the American Lung Association to implement radon education and distribute free radon kits.
