Obamacare Spending Nears $2.9 Million for Oregon Health Centers

July 19, 2013

July 19, 2013 -- Oregon is in line for another boost of spending from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare.

Health clinics around Oregon will get nearly $2.9 million in grants from the federal government to hire workers to help enroll the uninsured into the program. About 37 percent of patients served by the health clinics statewide were uninsured last year, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In Oregon, 28 grants will be awarded, and clinics are expected to hire 49 additional workers who will assist 71,493 people with enrollment into affordable health insurance coverage. That’s about $58,865 per job.

Last week, Cover Oregon, the state agency set up to implement Obamacare in Oregon, started a $3.2 million ad campaign promoting the federal healthcare program. Read more here
