Nonstop and Community Health Ventures Announce Partnership to Provide Affordable Employee Healthcare to Community Health Centers

The Nonstop Wellness program supports CHC employee wellbeing through premium and employee out-of-pocket savings on high-quality customized health benefits
March 14, 2016

MARCH 2016 - Portland OR – Nontraditional healthcare broker Nonstop announced today the participation of Nonstop Wellness in the Value in Benefits pilot program (ViB) being launched by Community Health Ventures (CHV), the business development affiliate of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC). Nonstop Wellness is a partially self-funded insurance solution designed for community health centers (CHCs), providing an immediate reduction in premiums and employee out-of-pocket costs, as well as improved and customized benefit plans.

“We believe that no one should go without high-quality, affordable healthcare –especially CHC employees,” said David Sloves, CEO of Nonstop. “Our current CHC clients save between 12 and 41 percent annually on healthcare costs while also vastly improving benefits, leading to increased staff retention and opportunities for program development. We are excited to expand Nonstop Wellness to more CHCs across the US through this valuable partnership with CHV.”

The ViB program will leverage the collective purchasing power of health centers to offer various benefit solutions and insurance products at a discounted rate.  A small pilot group of health centers will be invited to participate this Spring with the intent of expanding the program later in 2016 to all health centers. One of the main purposes of the pilot is to learn more about the specific needs of health centers and the unique challenges they face in offering employee benefits.  Ultimately, the mission of the ViB program is simple: to create a program that supports community health centers across the country to reduce costs so they can focus on serving their communities. “Since I joined CHV in 2001, I’ve heard many health center leaders express their desire that we develop a program to help lower costs in providing employee benefits. Today, I’m excited to announce our efforts to do just that,” said Danny Hawkins, Senior Vice President of Community Health Ventures.  “We are thrilled to offer our members access to Nonstop Wellness, an innovative and cost-effective alternative to fully-funded insurance.  Nonstop’s mission to provide quality, affordable healthcare for everyone is perfectly aligned with our health centers’ missions to ensure no one goes without the medical services they need.”

The Nonstop Wellness program combines an ACA-compliant high deductible health plan (HDHP) with a reserve pool to cover the costs for routine health maintenance, with all risk mitigated and administration managed by Nonstop. As a result, CHCs with 50+ members on healthcare save a baseline of 12.5 percent annually, and are able to provide platinum-level benefits and significantly reduced out-of-pocket costs to employees with no carrier changes. Unlike other partial self-insurance products, Nonstop Wellness offers across-the-board savings for both employers and employees, along with better benefits, helping CHCs align their missions of accessible care with employee healthcare offerings.  More information can be found at https://www.nonstopwellness.com/nachc/.

CHV is the business development affiliate of the NACHC. Founded in 2000, CHV was created under the direction of health center leadership and tasked with creating solutions to the tremendous economic pressures facing today’s health centers. By negotiating group purchasing agreements that achieve better pricing, service, and contractual terms for the products and services health centers use on a daily basis, CHV helps health centers reduce costs and remain competitive.

Founded in 1970, NACHC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance and expand access to quality, community-responsive health care for America's medically underserved and uninsured. NACHC represents the nation's network of over 1,250 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), which serve over 24 million people through over 9,000 sites located in all of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam.

Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area and Portland, Oregon, Nonstop delivers premium healthcare benefits to nonprofit organizations through its Nonstop Wellness program. Nonstop Wellness is a partially self-insured plan that allows for improved, customized benefits and an organizational baseline savings of 12.5% with no cost-shifting, changes to carriers, or unnecessary risk. Unlike traditional brokers, Nonstop manages and mitigates any of the financial risks associated with partial self-funding to ensure nonprofits can access the same savings and healthcare benefits as larger organizations. Nonstop was founded in 2012 with the mission to provide high-quality, affordable employer-sponsored healthcare for nonprofit organizations.
