A New Chapter for Children First for Oregon

September 11, 2013

Children First has accomplished many amazing things over the last 10 years—from expanding health care coverage to 95% of Oregon children through the Oregon Healthy Kids legislation, to waiving college tuition for Oregon’s vulnerable foster youth, to founding the Oregon Foster Youth Connection so that foster youth can have a voice in child welfare policy, to protecting vital social services that allow thousands of low-income families to transition to economic security. These accomplishments and countless others have been possible in no small part thanks to the leadership and dedication of Children First’s Executive Director, Robin Christian.

After nearly 10 years at the helm of Children First, Robin is departing for new horizons on the East Coast and Children First is preparing to begin a new a chapter. Although Robin will be missed, the Board and staff of Children First are looking forward to the promise and possibility ahead. As a testament to the strength of the organization, transition planning is already well under way. While the Board begins the process of hiring an interim executive director, Robin will continue to share her wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure a seamless transition for the organization.

In Robin’s own words, “I am moving on with the knowledge that Children First’s future is unlimited, its staff is talented, and its commitment to improving outcomes for Oregon’s most vulnerable kids will not waver.”

Indeed, our mission and our vision remain, and will continue to be our guiding principles as we move forward with this transition. We thank you for your continued support. You can expect regular updates from Children First as this work progresses.
