New CEO Selected by The Oregon Clinic

Scot Gudger announced as The Oregon Clinic’s new Chief Executive Officer
May 3, 2017

Portland, OR – May 1, 2017 Scot Gudger will be The Oregon Clinic's new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As of May 1, Gudger takes the helm from CEO Phil Armstrong, who has successfully guided the company's impressive growth and commitment to high-quality patient service for 14 years. As the CEO of one of Oregon’s largest specialty medicine practices, Gudger will collaboratively help lead more than 1100 employees, including more than 270 medical providers in more than 30 specialties. Nearly 420,000 patients visit The Oregon Clinic’s 60 different locations each year. “Scot is a great fit for The Oregon Clinic,” said Dr. Craig Fausel, President and Chair of the Board at The Oregon Clinic. “He’s committed to working collaboratively with our physicians and clinical staff to ensure outstanding care for our patients and maintaining a positive, supportive work environment for our employees.” Gudger is new to The Oregon Clinic, but not to Portland. He previously spent more than 25 years in medical management positions at Providence Medical Group and OHSU. Gudger previously served as Senior Director of Operations and Chief Operating Officer for Providence Health and Services at Providence Medical Group. At OHSU, Gudger was Administrator of the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics and oversaw clinical, research and laboratory operations. Most recently, he was Vice President of St. Vincent Physicians for SCL Health Provider Services in Billings, Montana. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington and a Masters in Business Administration from Seattle University. "I am delighted be back in Portland, and working with a group that aligns so closely with my personal values," said Gudger. "The Oregon Clinic consistently demonstrates compassion and commitment to its patients. I look forward to helping The Oregon Clinic continue to evolve and innovate, and continue providing high quality service to patients and referring providers." The Oregon Clinic takes pride in its unique organizational structure, described as "physician led, professionally managed." Physicians from across specialties and locations make up the Board of Directors and fill seats on the Executive Committee, including President and three Executive Vice Presidents. A critical role, the CEO is the only non-physician member of the executive team. Current CEO Phil Armstrong is retiring after leading the company for the past 14 years. During his tenure, The Oregon Clinic more than doubled its number of providers and patients served each year.
