Natasha Smith (Portland), Bethy Annsa (Portland) Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Breastfeeding Coalition of Oregon

The Breastfeeding Coalition of Oregon (BCO) is pleased to announce, Natasha Smith and Bethy Annsa have joined the BCO Board of Directors for two-year terms.

The Breastfeeding Coalition of Oregon aims to positively impact all the spheres of influence that surround a breastfeeding family, so together we experience a culture which supports, promotes and protects breastfeeding as biologically normative. BCO Board President, Georgina Higa said, “Natasha and Bethy bring a tremendous commitment, and personal and professional experience to our work. Each of them are advancing breastfeeding within our community in unique and powerful ways. We are grateful they are joining the organization to further BCO’s commitment to social justice through collective impact and to work across coalitions on behalf of BCO to improve breastfeeding rates and duration for the health of all Oregon families.”

Natasha Smith, MPH, CPH, CHES (Portland) – Natasha comes to BCO with a range of experiences in public health and health equity. She is currently working at the Multnomah County Health Department as the admin analyst for the Healthy Birth Initiative (HBI), Healthy Families of Oregon and REACH program

Bethy Annsa (Portland) – Bethy is the proud mother of two amazing children, and comes to the board with experience as a breastfeeding peer counselor with Nursing Mothers Counsel of Oregon. She previously served on the board of the

NW Mothers Milk Bank. Bethy is as a Vocational Specialist in the mental health. She is looking forward to welcoming a new baby with her wife Amie and advancing breastfeeding support and promotion in Oregon.

BCO works hand in hand with the United States Breastfeeding Committee to improve support, promotion and protection for breastfeeding as outlined in the Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding. www.breastfeedingor.org
