NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon applauds yesterday’s decision by Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington County Commissioners to appoint Rob Wagner to the seat recently vacated by Richard Devlin in Senate District 19.
The NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon PAC proudly endorsed Wagner in his 2017 race for the Lake Oswego School Board, recognizing his commitment to ensure access to reproductive health services is available for all students and promoting comprehensive sexuality education curriculum.
In the hearing to prior to the Commissioners’ vote, Wagner spoke to the opportunity to use his Senate seat to champion laws that focus on economic and social equity for the most vulnerable Oregonians:
“I am proud to represent SD 19 on the issues most important to my constituents, including affordable access to all reproductive healthcare. I will uphold the legacy of Senator Richard Devlin by being a true pro-choice champion in Salem and working to address disparities in healthcare access for all Oregonians.”
The district’s longtime Senator Richard Devlin was a highly-respected advocate for women’s issues and most recently acted as one of the chief sponsors of the 2017 Reproductive Health Equity Act, which codified the right to legal abortion and expanded no-cost coverage for reproductive health services to include abortion and vasectomy to people regardless of gender identity or immigration status.
