PORTLAND, OREGON (April 4, 2016) – OSBHA is glad to announce that Megan Kovacs will be joining the staff as a new Program Manager. Megan will lead the OSBHA Statewide Youth Action Council in their work, and design, implement, and manage a variety of programs including the CORE Grant program. She will also provide outreach, training, technical assistance, and communication to the School-Based Health Center field.
Megan comes to OSBHA with nearly 10 years of experience coordinating relationship and sexual violence prevention services. Megan has developed and shaped both local and statewide prevention policy as co-chair of the Prevention Committee for Multnomah County's Family Violence Coordinating Council and as co-chair of the Prevention and Education Committee for the Oregon Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force. She was integral in the development and passing of the Oregon Healthy Teen Relationships Act.
“Megan brings polished expertise in program development and management, training and curriculum development, advocacy and leadership that will benefit youth and school-based health efforts throughout Oregon,” said Laurie Huffman, Executive Director of OSBHA.
Ms. Kovacs is a 2015 recipient of the Judge Stephen B. Herrell Award for Outstanding Collaborative Efforts in Ending Domestic Violence and serves on the board of directors for a nonprofit, independent feminist media organization.
Megan will begin her work with OSBHA mid-April, 2016.
