Local survivors and advocates unite at Salem Cancer Institute for nation's largest lung cancer awareness event

WHAT: The local lung cancer community is coming together for the 9th Annual Shine a Light on Lung Cancer event. Salem will join an anticipated 200 cities where Shine a Lights will be taking place in healthcare facilities this November for Lung Cancer Awareness Month. 

Shine a Light Salem will feature: 

* Kovid Trivedi, MD, pulmonologist, will discuss early detection including lung cancer screening and risk reduction. 
* John Strother, MD, medical oncologist, will discuss advances in lung cancer treatment options, immunotherapy, and clinical trials. 
* A lung cancer patient will share her journey, including participating in a clinical trial. 
* Eric Laro, MD, general surgeon, will discuss survivorship and living well with lung cancer. 
* Time of Remembrance - a special time to honor and remember loved ones with a reading of names and moment of silence. WHO: Salem Cancer Institute with Lung Cancer Alliance, an advocacy and support non-profit organization based in Washington DC.
