Linda Roman Becomes the New Policy Director for the Oregon Health Equity Alliance

September 10, 2015

We are excited to share with you that Linda Roman will be joining the Oregon Health Equity Alliance as the new Policy Director. As Policy Director for the Oregon Health Equity Alliance, she will work to ensure the passage of the 2016 OHEA legislative agenda. Roman succeeds Regan Gray as the new policy lead for OHEA. “We’re proud to have Linda come aboard as our new Policy Director, and look forward to her leadership as OHEA continues to improve the health and wellbeing of all of our communities. On behalf of OHEA we are grateful for Regan Gray’s work in the 2015 legislative session. Please join me in welcoming Linda Roman in her new role as Policy Director. I can’t think of anybody better suited for this new role” said Alberto Moreno Co-Chair of OHEA.

In the past legislative session OHEA championed an aggressive legislative agenda aimed to expand access to health care and breaking down barriers that cause inequities. Among the issues the agenda included were: Ban the Box, End Profiling, Paid Sick Time, Junk Food Marketing in school and access to health care agenda which included the Basic Health Plan, Cover All Kids and the Comprehensive Women’s Health.

Linda Roman comes to OHEA with a solid background in health policy and health care inclusion. She is no stranger to the work of OHEA as she worked in the 2013 legislative session to statutorily codify the first Traditional Health Care Commission and prenatal care for all women for the Oregon Latino Health Coalition. Most recently she was key in securing $10 million in funding for preventative health care services for low income children. “OHEA has had an exceptional track record of informing and shaping policy which improves the lives of all Oregonians. I am honored to continue to be a part of that work. OHEA has been a consistent partner in working to ensure that all Oregonians regardless of their background have access to health care. What most excited me about this job is working to move inclusive policy for immigrants, LGBTQ communities and working families in Oregon.” said Roman.

The Oregon Health Equity Alliance (OHEA) is a collective effort of 47 regional and state partners who seek to make Oregon a more equitable place for all. OHEA members are committed to improving health and wellbeing by using community-driven strategies to promote education, advocacy, and policy change. OHEA believes every Oregonian should have an equal chance to achieve their full health potential.
