May 24, 2013

May 20, 2013 – LifeWorks NW has been named “Outstanding Community Partner” by Community Action of Washington County at their “Celebration of Spirit” annual awards banquet and gala benefit.

“We are so proud to have been honored in this way,” said Mary Monnat, LifeWorks NW President/CEO. “Community Action is an important organization in our community doing great work and we are thankful that they are as committed to organizations working in partnership as we are.”

Community Action referenced LifeWorks NW’s passionate, experienced counselors who partner with them, bringing mental health services to ensure that children enrolled in their Head Start program have the support they need to succeed, in presenting the award. They also cited their partnership with LifeWorks NW to bring needed mental health and addiction services to families served in Community Action’s housing and homeless programs.

“This exemplary partnership has allowed our two organizations to apply our unique skills and expertise to help families and children overcome often complex barriers to success,” said Jerralynn Ness, Community Action Executive Director.

Founded in 1961 and based in Portland, Oregon with clinics and service centers throughout Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties, LifeWorks NW is a non-profit agency, which provides mental health, addiction and related social services for a healthy community.  The agency depends on community support and private funding to provide results-driven support services for children and families, adults and older adults.

For over 47 years, Community Action has been offering hope, help and change for families in transition. Community Action programs promote the birth of healthy babies, reduce the potential for child abuse and neglect, increase children's chances for success in school, and improve the quality and accessibility of child care. The agency also offers energy assistance and helps to prevent homelessness. Community Action promotes the vision that Washington County residents are strong, resilient, involved in the community and live with dignity and security.
