Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center first and only hospital in Oregon to achieve all Hospital Transformation Performance Program quality measures

(Gresham, OR)--Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center is ranked as the top performing hospital in Oregon on key quality and safety performance measures according to the Hospital Transformation Performance Program (HTPP) Year 3 Report released by Oregon Health Authority. Legacy Mount Hood is the first and only hospital in Oregon to meet all 11 HTPP quality performance measures. 

"Delivering quality care is central to our mission and a strategic priority for Legacy Health," said Legacy's Chief Medical Officer Lewis Low, M.D. "The state's HTPP program has guided where we focus our quality improvement initiatives and human capital resources so that we continue to advance patient care and clinical safety, especially in areas measured by the HTPP program," said Low. 

Legacy Mount Hood is rated the top-performing hospital in Oregon with 100% achievement of the HTPP measures. "Achieving all 11 performance measures reflects tremendous dedication and clinical leadership to do the intensive work of process improvement and the willingness of our clinical teams to embrace change and apply best practices to deliver the best care to our patients," said Gretchen Nichols, RN, president of Legacy Mount Hood. 

Legacy Health's four participating hospitals all made advances improving quality and achieving performance measures. Legacy Good Samaritan and Legacy Meridian Park achieved 75% of the performance measures. Legacy Mount Hood and Legacy Meridian Park were among ten top-performing hospitals in health care associated infections with zero central line associated bloodstream infections. Legacy Mount Hood leads all hospitals in medication safety communication. Legacy Emanuel is a top 5 performer for behavior health, and they achieved 7 of 11 performance targets. 

HTPP is a state-based quality incentive program for Oregon's Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) hospitals. Hospitals earn financial awards when they meet or show significant improvements in the 11 performance metrics. Oregon Health Authority will award $87.4 million in incentive payments from pooled funds for Year 3 (2015-2016) based on performance data. Legacy Health's four participating hospitals earned a total of $16.2 million in incentive performance awards. The HTPP incentive pooled funds are generated from a hospital provider assessment tax on Oregon's 28 DRG hospitals.
