Legacy Meridian Park Medical Foundation Awards Scholarships to Further Nurse Education

March 5, 2018
A surgical charge nurse and a respiratory therapist at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center have received scholarships to support their continuing education.

Laurie Sherman and Katie Jo Reilich were given Healthcare Professional Scholarships by the Meridian Park Medical Foundation.

Sherman is a surgical charge nurse who has worked at Legacy Health for 12 years, including the past five at Meridian Park. She will use her $1,500 scholarship to help finance her final term before graduating with a BSN from Western Governor's University.

Reilich is a lead respiratory therapist who began working at Meridian Park nearly five years ago. She'll use her $3,500 scholarship to pursue a BA in Healthcare Administration at George Fox University.

The Healthcare Professional Scholarship is offered annually to Legacy Meridian Park employees to help advance their skills and provide high-quality care for our patients. The scholarships are funded through earnings from a small permanent endowment established in 2000.

Legacy Meridian Park is the South Metro area's most advanced medical center. Specialty services include neurology, orthopedic surgery, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, cancer care and a nationally recognized stroke program.
