Legacy Meridian Park Kicks Off Heart & Stroke Walk Team Rally with Special Guests

February 16, 2018

February 13, 2018 -- Join us on Friday, February 16 at 11:00am for Legacy Meridian Park Hospital's kickoff event for the 2018 American Heart Association Oregon & SW Washington Heart & Stroke Walk. The walk itself will take place in June, 2018.

Kirstyn Rossman, Assistant Nurse Manager, at Legacy Meridian Park is the hospital's team coach. In early October, 2017, Rossman entered her first ever event, the Portland Marathon, where she provided lifesaving CPR to a fellow runner. He survived that event and they have become close friends.

At this event, Rossman will be presented with the American Heart Association Heartsaver Hero Award by Oregon & SW Washington, Executive Director, Lanette Trickey. As a surprise special guest, the man she saved, Dave Brenner, will be there from Breckenridge, CO, to help her receive the award. As a special surprise to Brenner, he will be presented with a 2017 Portland Marathon Finisher Medal as an honorary token of what would have been his 42nd consecutive marathon.

The full program also includes presentations by Metro West Ambulance and Portland Bureau of Emergency Communications on the 'Chain of Survival', a Hands-Only CPR demonstration by Legacy Meridian Park nurses, and heart-healthy information in honor of February being American Heart Month.
