Knights’ $2 billion gift to OHSU cancer care marks Brian Druker’s return to leadership

The Nike founders’ donation, billed as the largest-ever single gift to any institution, came after months of discussion with the rock star researcher. Now, after criticizing OHSU’s administration in November, he is back in the fold as the first president of a newly independent cancer-fighting enterprise formed by the public university and teaching hospital.

Brian Druker, the pioneering leukemia researcher, will serve as the first president of the Knight Cancer Institute after its restructuring as a newly independent, self-governing arm of OHSU. Druker in November had stepped down as the Institute's CEO.
